Two Sides of Seeing One World
Understanding me
I have never believed that we must choose between logic and imagination.
I am most myself in the space between a well-built plan and an unexpected idea.
I enjoy making sense of complicated things, but I am equally interested in what makes them meaningful. I can spend hours studying how a system works, then become completely absorbed by a road, a photograph, a conversation or a story that changes how I see it.
My world moves between strategy, travel, public life, technology, communication and human experience. The subjects may change, but the instinct remains the same: understand deeply, connect the dots and find a better way to express what matters.
This page is not an attempt to divide me into two neat halves. It is an explanation of why I often approach the same question from two very different directions.
Where the two sides meet
The best work begins when opposites start a conversation.
I am interested in the point where information becomes insight, and insight becomes something people can understand, remember or act upon.

How I tend to work
One side challenges. The other side expands.
The tension between them is not a contradiction. It is often where the most useful ideas come from.

Does it make sense?
What is the objective? What is missing? What evidence supports it? What happens next?
Right asks
Does it make someone feel something?
Is it memorable? Is there a better way to see it? What possibility has not yet been explored?
Left contributes
Clarity and direction
It turns complexity into a sequence, a framework and a practical course of action.
Right contributes
Energy and perspective
It introduces curiosity, emotion, imagination and the courage to look beyond the obvious.
The left side of my world
I am drawn to questions that need untangling.
Strategy, policy, technology, markets, movement and the machinery behind how places and organisations work.
I enjoy researching, questioning assumptions and turning scattered information into a clear point of view.
The right side of my world
I am equally drawn to experiences that cannot be reduced to a spreadsheet.
Travel, roads, films, photography, culture, conversations and the small details that give a place its character.
These are not distractions from the serious work. They are often what help me understand why the work matters.
Two sides. One mind.

Somewhere between the two is where I write, work, travel, question, create and continue figuring things out.
